We can hardly believe it, here we sit behind Ian & Nadia's computer... enjoying their wonderful company and playing with their adorable kids! The day of travelling went well - we had a 4 hour lay-over in Port Moresby where we had the opportunity to see the Reformed Churches Bible college, and spend time with Wayne and Cheronne Vanderheid. Wayne picked us up between teaching his classes, showed us around Port Moresby, and then we spent time with their family. It was definately a cultural experience to see/smell/hear the sight and sounds in the city! We then had lunch and Noah had great fun playig with the Vanderheid & t'Hart children! After a long day of travelling we arrived last evening in Lae! It was so special to be reunited with the PNG Wildeboers!
Noah and Lucas are adjusting well, they are having so much fun playing with their cousins! They are both feeling better, we took Noah to a walk-in clinic in Cairns before we left where he got a nebulized ventolin treatment (he was quite wheezy), and some antibiotics for his chest infection. The weather is quite warm, and very humid - but tolerable! This morning Tim went to the church and helped with a work bee where he did some clean-up work and made a trip to the dump, quite the experience.
We are so thankful that the Lord has blessed us and brought us here to this beautiful country!

Leaving for Port Moresby Tomorrow!
We are so excited that we are leaving tomorrow morning bright and early (we'll be at Cairns airport at 5 am) to go to PNG! We have had a good stay here, and are now rested and ready to start the next part of our adventure! We were able to rent a car for a day and visit Kuranda (a beautiful tropical village in the mountains) and go to Port Douglas (home of the 4-mile beach) which was a lot of fun... we have also been around Cairns a bit, learning the city bus system here, which Noah loves!! It has been an interesting "vacation" as Tim & I both keep saying that the big trip is still ahead: and we feel like we are just passing time - and just so excited to see Ian, Nadia and the kids soon!
We are a little worried as both boys have bad coughs and low fevers, we think it may be from the travelling, we pray that they will be feeling better soon and that the flying will go well tomorrow. We look forward to making our next post from PNG!

We've landed in Australia!
Well, we are here in beautiful Cairns, AUSTRALIA! We are so thankful for all the prayers and support... we were blessed with a really good flight here! I was amazed that the boys did so well, and that we made all of our connecting flights (a few were pretty tight) and now, 36 hours after leaving Hamilton, we have arrived safely! Noah learned the joy of stickers and colouring - I was amazed to learn that he actually can sit down in one spot for more than 5 minutes, he also learned exactly how to run (with me chasing behind!) the entire circuit on a 747 plane! Lucas was fabulous, he slept a lot, and was pretty happy if I kept him full of food! He also charmed all the people around him, even smiling until the bitter end! We are definately exhausted and I still can't quite figure out the whole time change thing, (it is about 1:00 Sunday afternoon now, but about midnight Sat night Ontario time) - crazy! As I'm writing this post, all 3 boys are crashed out in our little budget apartment, I wonder what time we will wake up tonight?!
Our plan is to recoup from the flight (and enjoy the beauty of Cairns) until Thursday, then fly out really early Friday morning to PNG!

10 Days till Departure
We can hardly believe that in 10 days we will be headed to the airport to begin this once-in-a-lifetime experience! Our flight leaves Friday June 20, going from Buffalo to Chicago to LA to Sydney to Cairns, AU! We then have a few days to recoup and then head from Cairns to Port Moresby to Lae, PNG!
Yes, we are excited and yes, we are nervous... especially for our kids, but we are confident that we can do all things through Him who gives us strength (even for 28 hours of travelling!). We hope to use this blog to keep you, our family and friends, updated during our 8 1/2 weeks away.
